Michigan Desserts [1925 ca.]
The front cover begins at the top with the title "Michigan Desserts" written in red lettering and continues with a drawing of a bag of sugar, an apple, cherries, blueberries, and strawberries. The back cover features a black and white photograph of a blonde haired woman followed by letter signed by Sandy in blue lettering. The inside pages start off with a brief history of sugar and continue with various recipes that utilize Big Chief Sugar in them. All recipes entail a list of the ingredients needed plus directions on how to prepare the dish. Some of the recipes listed are Apple Crumble Pie, Blueberry Torte, Cherry Surprise, and Strawberry Cake. Pages fifteen through nineteen contain the five different steps in making sugar. The five steps are diffusion, purification, evaporation, crystallization, and separation. The last inside pages and back end page are made up of four "Unusual Recipes."View this piece: jpg pdf
