The front cover begins at the top with the title "Ransom's Family Receipt Book" and continues with a list of receipts for fish, oysters, game. and eggs. At the bottom, the publisher information is listed in black lettering. The back cover entails a container of Dr. Trask's Magnetic Ointment on the left and various doctor's names and medicines listed on the right. At the bottom, the sold by information is listed in black lettering. The front end page is titled "Weak Lungs" and continues with an informational paragraph explaining valuable medicines for certain sicknesses. Below, there is a list for all retail prices of the remedies available. The rest of the inside pages are dedicated to various receipts and testimonials. All receipts entail the ingredients needed plus directions on how to prepare the dish. The testimonials listed are provided by different consumers of various Dr. Ransom's medicines. Page thirty two contains "The Housekeeper's Alphabet" and continues with a calendar for the year 1895. Th back end page is titled "Receipts In Books of 1892, 1893, and 1894" and contains a list of all books from those three years.
