The front cover features a drawn black and white illustration of a woman carrying a steaming bowl in her left hand. The title "Ransom's Family Receipt Book" is written to the right of the illustration in black lettering. At the bottom, the publisher information is listed. The back cover begins at the top with an illustration of miniature boys waiting in line for Trask's Ointment. In the center of the illustration, there is a brief story to go along with the illustration. Below, the sold by information is listed in black lettering. The front end page contains an index plus a retail price list of all remedies. The rest of the inside pages are dedicated to various receipts and testimonials from various consumers. Some of the receipts listed include corn omelet, potato biscuit, curry sauce, breaded eggs, beet root salad, meat balls, baked beans, spice grape, and chocolate pie. All recipes entail the ingredients needed plus directions on how to prepare the dish. The testimonials are written in paragraph format with a heading and a little illustration to the right or left hand side. The back end page is made up of a list of all receipts in books from the years 1895, 1896, and 1897.
