Choice Recipes And Menus Using Canned Foods
The front cover features a wraparound drawing of a woman wearing a red dress, red shoes, and a white apron in the kitchen as she empties a can of food into a sauce pan on top of a stove. The title "Choice Recipes and Menus Using Canned Foods" is written in white lettering against an outlined dark blue box located in the top left corner. The back cover contains three pictures of birds followed by "Canco tested, Home Economics Section, American Can Company" written in white lettering against a blue background. At the bottom there is a dining room table set for dinner. The front end page contains "A Guide to Common Can Sizes" for various can sizes such as No. 8, 303, 2, and 10. The table of contents for this pamphlet is located on pages four and five including sections for vegetables, meat, fish, fruits and desserts, and miscellaneous. On pages six and seven, there are ten Luncheon and Supper menus planned. The recipes begin on page twelve and continue until page forty-six. All recipes entail a list of all ingredients needed plus directions on how to prepare the dish. There are drawn and photographic illustrations located on various pages throughout the inside pages. Some recipes include beet relish salad, corn chowder, peas french style, western pancakes, chicken noodle casserole, broiled sardine sandwich, chilled salmon, plum sauce, and pineapple sauce. The back end page is made up of information for the can opener. There are five key requirements for having a good can opener listed in black lettering beside three photographic illustrations of a wall type, hand type, and juice type.
