Description:
The front cover features a Della Robbia frame around a drawing of a tree on a hilltop above a farm. The title, "Lily of the Valley brand Soups Salads Desserts" is written in brown lettering against a white background. At the bottom, "Compliments of H.J. Burlingame Nowich, N.Y." is stated in black lettering against a green background. The back cover contains twenty one cans of fruits and vegetables available to consumers in either tin or glass containers. The front end page entails a seal of approval from the Good Housekeeping Bureau of Foods, Sanitation and Health. Page one is the title page which consists of the title, author, and publisher plus copyright information. The rest of the inside pages are dedicated to various recipes that fall under the categories of soups, vegetables, salads, pies, desserts, and chafing dish recipes. Each recipes entails the ingredients needed plus directions on how to prepare the dish. Pages six, seven, ten, eleven, eighteen, and nineteen contain drawn color illustrations of different fruits and vegetables including tomatoes, spinach, beans, pumpkin, and pears. The back end page begins at the top with "Fresh-Kept Foods Packed Only By New York Canners, Inc." and continues with a list of all vegetables and fruits available in tin or glass containers. At the bottom, "All our products have been tested and approved by the Good Housekeeping Bureau of Foods, Sanitation and Health" is stated in black lettering.
