Little Cookbooks: The Alan and Shirley Brocker Sliker Culinary Collection

Better Baking And Cooking With Columbus

The front panel of the two-fold, six-panel leaflet includes text reading Better Baking And Cooking - With Columbus, followed by a black and white drawing of a Columbus Oleomargarine box, then followed by more text, The Pure Spread For Bread. On the gray background, there are two color illustrations, at the top a coconut-iced, three-layer cake with one slice cut out and lying on a plate, and at the bottom a bowl of pudding or soup, a cup and a block of margarine. The back panel includes an offer for Rogers Silverware Free, with enough Columbus Coupons. A chart is featured indicating how many coupons are needed for each type of silverware. The company's name, The Capital City Products Company, appears below, along with the cities in which it operates (Pittsburgh - Columbus - Syracuse - Chicago). Also on the panel is text reading Kelly Press, Spfld, O. Three of the four inside panels include recipes (mostly for desserts), some with accompanying color drawings. A fourth inside panel features a promotional message for Columbus Margarin, without the "e," even though a color illustration of a package of Columbus Oleomargarine includes the "e."
