Description:

The front cover features a painting of the Old Women Who Lived in a Shoe who serves her children Ralston from a large bowl placed on top of a big checkerboard box of Ralston. There are young children around her along with a house with a valley in the background. The back cover shows a painting of multiple young children eating and playing outside with one another. The front end page begins by telling the story about "The Tale of the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe." The following inside pages feature various recipes for dishes such as porridges, fried foods, bread, puddings, cakes and tarts. Pages sixteen through nineteen include detailed paragraphs about vitamins and necessary foods one should eat. Throughout the inside pages, there are drawn illustrations of children playing plus different plates of food. The back end page entails the story "What the Checkerboard Fairy Told the Children."
