The New York Receipt Book
Description:
The front cover of the pamphlet features a black and white drawing of a woman in a diving position, standing on a rock with the words, The Diver, chiseled on the rock. The white title text, The New York Receipt Book, appears on a black background, framed in an ornate red and white design. The back cover has a similar design (with a fan design in three of the four corners), but with the drawing of a little girl in a long, fur-lined coat, a fur muff, and a large hat adorned with an ostrich feather. Beneath the drawing is the text, One Of The Children Who Took Castoria. Space is provided on the bottom quarter of the page for a sales representative's name and address, under text reading Compliments Of. A string has been run through an upper corner of the pamphlet's covers. Recipes appear throughout, mostly on inside left pages, with promotional text and popular cures on the right. Products highlighted include Centaur Liniment, Pitcher's Castoria, and Wei de Meyer's Catarrh Cure. Black and white drawings appear on many pages.
