The front cover starts with the title at the top that reads "Pittsburgh Provision & Packing Co. Fertilizing List. Below the title, there is a drawn color illustration of three heads including a steer, sheep and pig. There is a half moon going around the steer's head and flowers weaving through all three heads. At the bottom of the page, the publisher "Beef and Pork Packers" is listed in red writing followed by the printer "Milwaukee Litho Co." in a brown, very small print. The back cover is an ad for the Crescent Brand hams and breakfast bacon. It consists of a female woman wearing a red and white blouse, white apron and green skirt. She is holding a ham on a platter with her left hand. There is a stove behind her and a table in front of her with a knife, garlic, slab of bacon, two onions, and a lard bucket on it. There is a tub of Duquesne Leaf Lard below the table. On the lower left hand side, the phrase "Sausage Bologna Puddings [etc.]" is written in a gray text. The first inside page starts off by listing all items that are carried in stock at all times and stating that the company would be pleased to quote prices on application. The following inside pages consists of different recipes for fertilizers including examples such as pure raw bone meal, lawn, special potato, corn and potato, keystone, phosphate and potash, acid phosphate, pure bone flour, beef scrap and bone, and poultry bone. The last few pages are facts of useful information for such things as food mixture for poultry, distances for planting vegetables, and formulas for insecticides. The very last inside page states very detailed direction for using their pure bone fertilizers and finishes by listing the title along with publisher at the bottom.View this piece: jpg pdf
