Selected Recipes For Wartimes
The front cover of the pamphlet features a design of white stars on a blue background in the upper left, with red and white lines in the lower right, plus a white background and blue text in the middle reading Selected Recipes For Wartimes. The back cover features a similar design to the front (stars, lines and colors), but over the design is a color drawing of the Calumet boy, tongue out, pointing a sword toward a can of Calumet Baking Powder. Text beneath the can reads This Protects You Against Work, Worry And Waste. Also on the back cover is a circle framed in golden wheat stalks, in which appears text reading Compliments Of E.F. Burkholder & Co., General Merchandise, 317-319 E. Main, Phone 177, Streator, Ill. The inside front cover features a Conservation message from Maude Marie Costello, American Red Cross Dietician, encouraging Americans to support the nation's war effort by not wasting food. Recipes included are presented to the American Army of housewives. In addition to recipes, the pamphlet includes information about how to mix substitutes, then lists some substitutes for sugar and butter. The back end page has the Calumet Company motto and information about the product and its uses.
