Mirro-Matic Pressure Pan - Recipes, Directions, Time Tables [1958]


The front cover has a large illustration of a pressure cooker surrounded by an uncooked roast and home-canned and fresh vegetables. On the right is the Mirro-Matic logo in black, yellow and red with the title in black. In the center is the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. At the bottom is "America's Most Wanted Pressure Pan" in white on a red border that wraps around the back. The back cover has the Mirro-Matic logo in the upper left corner with "America's most wanted Pressure Pan" with the Underwriter's Laboratory seal above six bulleted features of the pan. A red tag declares that the pan was "Use-Tested by McCall's" beside an explanation of the testing with the conclusion, "we used it and we like it!" There are listed six "features we especially like." The front end page has a table of contents and instructions on replacement of the safety fuse. The title page has a black and red drawing of pressure pans in four sizes surrounded by meats, vegetables and fruits. There is an explanation that recipes have separate columns for amounts for the different sizes of pans. The company logo, name and address are at the bottom. There is a list of Mirro-Matic parts, "Important!" warnings, six illustrated steps to cooking with the Mirro-Matic, 11 "Important Don'ts," how to clean the Mirro-Matic, Mirro-Matic features with illustrations and how the Mirro-Matic saves vitamins, flavor and time. There are tables for cooking various foods: Fresh Vegetables, Dried Vegetables, Dried Fruits, Cereals, Meats, Soups and Chowders, Pasta and Rice, Fish and Sea Food, Frozen Vegetables and Fresh Fruit amid the recipes. There is a section on instructions for pressure canning with time tables and instructions for Terminal Sterilization for baby formula, nipples, bottles and caps. At the end are two pages of Mirro products with illustrations and descriptions.
