This hardcover cook book has a light green cloth cover with the the title on a black background framed in red and black. Below in a black circle framed in red and black with an ornate border is a drawing of a red and black heat regulator. The front end page has a black-and-white drawing of a woman wearing an apron adding ingredients to a bowl on a table with a cook book, cooking utensils and a scale. The fly leaf has a black-and-white drawing of a family sitting at a dinner table. These are repeated on the back end page and back fly leaf. The title page has "Prepared and Tested in the Research Kitchen of American Stove Company at Cleveland, Ohio, under the direction of Dorothy E. Shank, M.A., formerly Instructor of Food Research, Household Arts Department, Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City. Price One Dollar. American Stove Company, St. Louis, Mo." There is a table of contents with 15 chapters: Yeast Breads, Quick Breads, Cakes, Frostings and Fillings, Cookies and Small Cakes, Desserts, Fish, Meats and Meat Substitutes, Pies and Tarts, Poultry, Sauces, Soups, Vegetables, Miscellaneous, Whole Meal Cookery, Broiling and Lorain Oven Canning. There is a list of illustrations, a preface about the Lorain Oven Heat Regulator and Using the Red Wheel. At the end are time and temperature charts for Lorain Oven canning and cooking and an index. There are eight color photographs featured recipes. A single lined insert sheet has a hand-written shopping list on one side and a possible guest list, with addresses in New York City, on the other.
