War Edition Left Overs Or Economy In The Kitchen
The front cover of this pamphlet is white with a frame of red and black lines. At the top is "War Edition" in black and "Left Overs" in large red letters outlined in black. "Or" is below in a black-and-white banner above "Economy In The Kitchen" in black on a beige unfurled paper. In the lower left corner is a circle outlined in black with "Published by C.I. Hood Co., Proprietors Hood's Sarsaparilla, Lowell, Mass." The back cover has the frame of red and black lines around "Three Efficient Medicines for The Blood, The Nerves, The Liver" followed by information about Hood's Sarsaparilla, Peptiron and Hood's Pills. The front end page has a foreword and a list of Hood's Useful Books. The back end page lists "Family Medicines And Other Proprietary Articles Prepared Only by C.I. Hood Co., Lowell, Mass." with descriptions and prices of products with separate listings of "Medicines For Women" and "Hood Farm Medicines." The title page has the subtitle, "How To Use Up And Make Over Odds And Ends Of Cooked and Uncooked Foods for Economy In The Kitchen, Revised under war conditions and to comply with requests of the United States Food Administration." The introduction explains the importance of utilizing leftovers to stretch food budgets and to not waste food "especially now when there is not enough food in the world for everybody." The last page has an index of recipes. Interspersed with recipes are articles about and testimonials for Hood's Sarsaparilla.
