The front and back end pages have a portrait of Van Houten and some information about him below. The portrait is titled the inventor. The first page is a promo for Van Houten's Cocoa and page two discusses substitutions. The recipes all have a photograph with them. There is a recipe for hot cocoa and the remaining are for brownies, cookies, souffle, icing, cookies, and cake.
