The book cover is green pseudo-leather with gold lettering on the spine. The front of the dust jacket has a statue in a summer rose garden with a typical spread of ham, green beans, Bundt cake, rolls, etc. The back of the dust jacket has photos: sunrise over Tennessee and three other of residents of Tennessee. The press name and location are at the bottom with a bar code. This is the 7th printing of the book. Recipes included drinks, appetizers, soups & salads, vegetables, breads, entrées, outdoor cooking, desserts, cakes & pies, and accompaniments. There are black and white photos and color photos mainly from the Lynchburg area. The photos have detailed captions. Scattered through the cookbook are history notes: the Tennessee Hills; labor of philosophers; Miss Mary Bobo's boarding house; the cave spring; charcoal mellowing; barrels and barrelhouses; music fills the air; mules, mules, mules; Mr. Jack Daniel's original Silver Cornet Band; Moore County, yesterday and today; The farmer's produce wagon; hog killing time in Tennessee by Erskine H.
