The front cover reads, "It contains many cooking, coloring, painting, and miscellaneous receipts - A calendar, interest and other rules - And many facts worth knowing. New Every Year." The center of the cover has a small beehive. Victorian decorations are in each corner. The title and illustrations are framed by two thin black lines. Orange-brown stock. The back has a calendar and a promo for "D. Ransom, Son, and Co. Celebrated Medicines! Sold by Reed, Bates, and Co., Sharon, Conn. Dealers in Dry Goods, Groceries, Hardware, Drugs, Medicines, Paints, and Oils. Hats and Caps, Boots and Shoes, Crockery, Glassware, Seeds, and a Full assortment of General Merchandise offered at very low prices." Framed by two thin black lines. Index for 1882, 1883, and 1884 receipts is on the back end page.
