AFRICAN
HISTORY
If we are
to discuss the African American experience, we must began with African
History and its historical context prior to the Middle Passage.
Therefore, most of the works here focus on the Pre Colonial Slave
Trade. These works emphasize the prominence and splendor of the
African Peoples (North and West) prior to their enslavement and
subsequent journey through the middle passage to the Americas. In
providing this historical backdrop, this research extends the work
of scholars who use only Ante-bellum Slavery as a starting point
to discuss African American History.

African
American Literature
There is
a wealth of material in this area. I thought about categorizing

Period, Harlem Renaisance), but decided to use a comtemporary paradigm--modernity

starting point for the Postmodernity Period.
