The Main Library Reference area serves users for most psychology subjects.

Phone the Reference Desk at 353-8700, contact us online for quick answers to specific questions, or come in and ask for research assistance at the desk. The librarians at the desk help usersidentify appropriate sources and demonstrate how to use the various print and electronic materials. For more specialized assistance, contact me: email Kate Corby at corby@msu.edu or call 432-6123 ext. 121 for an appointment.

Searching the psychology literature

The American Psychological Association (APA) produces PsycINFO the most comprehensive database for the field of psychology. It covers journal articles, books, and dissertations from around the world. The MSU Libraries offer this database as part of the CSA Illumina Search Service. Instructions for searching are available from MSU Libraries Reference Department staff. The help screens within the search software are also very helpful. In addition to the PsycINFO bibliographic database, APA also produces PsycARTICLES which is the full-text of articles from 56 peer reviewed journals published by APA and allied organizations. Coverage varies, but extends back to 1985 for most titles and all the way to volume 1 number 1 for many APA journals. Article links appear during searches of the PsycINFO index or browse individual journals using the Library Catalog listings.
