The Stage CoachThe Stage Coach / text by Goscinny ; drawings by Morris ; translated by Frederick W. Nolan. -- Leicester : Knight Books, 1976. -- 47 p. : col. ill. ; 21 cm. -- (Lucky Luke) -- (Colour Knight) -- Translation of: La Diligence. -- Genre: Western. -- Call no.: PN6747.M64L83213 1976Summary: Lucky Luke is asked to escort a stagecoach with a big gold shipment from Denver to San Francisco. The driver is Hank Bully. The passengers are Scat Thumbs, a gambler often seen in tar in feathers; Jeremiah Fallings, a photographer; Digger Stubble, a prospector; Sinclair Rawler, a sky-pilot; Arabella Flimsy, and her diminutive accountant husband Oliver. They are beset by bandits. They eat bacon and beans. They push the stagecoach over a landslide. They eat bacon and beans. They are captured by Indians. They get away. Lucky Luke shoots eight prairie chickens with one shot to supplement the bacon and beans, and while he's hunting they are beset by bandits. The preacher turns out to be a phony, and they turn him over to the police in Salt Lake City. The final bandit between Carson City and Sacramento is Black Bart, who successfully gets them to open the strongbox. It turns out to be full of rocks. Their trip was a decoy. The real strongbox arrived by another stage and nobody's the wiser. At the banquet in Lucky Luke's honor, Wells Fargo serves bacon and bean flavored ice cream.
