PilotePilote was published in one form or another from 1959 to 1989. It started as a weekly anthology-style comics periodical published from 1959 to 1974. A second era of Pilote restarted the numbering and was published monthly from 1974 to 1986. Pilote then merged with Charlie Mensuel and the resulting periodical Pilote & Charlie restarted the numbering again and was published from 1986 until 1988. The title became just Pilote once again in 1988 and was published until 1989, this time without restarting the numbering. |

Pin-UpSeries of comics about American life during and after World War II, by Yann Lepennetier and Philippe Berthet. |
-----------------------------------------------------
Pin-Up 1Pin-Up 1 / story, Yann ; art, Berthet ; colour, Topaze. -- Lincoln, Nebraska : Blasé Publishing, 1997. -- 43 p. : col. ill. ; 31 cm. -- Setting: World War II in the Pacific. This first album was retitled Remember Pearl Harbor in later French editions. -- Genre: War. -- Call no.: PN6747.Y3P513 1997Summary: Joe says goodbye to Dottie, on his way to fight with the American army in the Pacific. She gives him a picture of herself in a bathing suit. Joe shows her his tattoo: R.P.H. At Christmas with Talullah, we see that the lonely Dottie also has a tattoo. The letters stand for "Remember Pearl Harbor." In the Pacific, Joe sees plenty of action, meets an island girl named Ansin Bulu, and rescues John F. Kennedy. On the home front, Dottie loses her job and moves in with Talullah, who offers her a job at a cabaret, and along with the other girls poses for cartoon pinups to be transferred onto fighting planes. The artist is named Milton. Milton is inspired by Dottie's nude pose to make her the model for "Poison Ivy," a character in his comic strip. In the Pacific, Joe and the other G.I.s get hooked on the Poison Ivy strip, and back home Dottie tries to get Milton to do better stories based on Joe's letters. Dottie quits posing when Milton makes a pass at her. Then Joe sends Dottie a letter breaking off their relationship, and Milton puts Joe in the comic strip. To be continued.

Pin-Up 2Pin-Up 2 / story, Yann ; art, Berthet ; colour, Topaze. -- Lincoln, Nebraska: Blasé Publishing, 1997. -- 43 p. : col. ill. ; 31 cm. -- Call no.: PN6747.P5213 1997Summary: Dottie is working at the Mitchell aircraft factory, and Talullah is posing for Milton. She won't do the Poison Ivy character, so the strip has become "Texas Lady." Over in the Pacific, the squadron with the pin-ups on it is having bad luck, but Earl swears by his "Virgin Dottie" and seems to be having better luck. Joe is a prisoner of war, and gets tortured when they find a "Poison Ivy" strip on him. After a while, Dottie gets asked by a Colonel Eisner of the Army's propaganda service to return to the strip, and she reluctantly returns to pose for Milton. By this time Talullah is pregnant and Milton has to marry her. Joe escapes from the prison camp. Eisner arranges a tour of the Pacific theater for Milton and Poison Ivy. Joe is reluctant, but Eisner says that Roy Crane, Noel Sickles, George Baker, Alfred Andriola and Al Capp have all done these tours successfully. Before they leave Dottie sees a newsreel with a wounded Joe talking to General MacArthur about Poison Ivy. Ivy decides to get revenge on Joe, and to begin by sleeping with another G.I. Earl immediately has a nightmare that Dottie is dead, and his plane is shot down. Eisner and Milton organize a competition: Whichever wounded G.I. can guess what Ivy's tattooed R.P.H means gets to spend an evening with her. Milton and Dottie arrive in the Pacific and are warmly received. A jealous Talullah manages to have her baby early (names it Dottie), and gets Milton called back. Joe wins the contest ("Remember Pearl Harbor"), but Dottie can't quite go through with her revenge. Joe's too drunk. In the "Poison Ivy" strip a lesbian W.A.C. wins the contest.
