"Apuntes de un Dibujante y una Entrevista" (Rafael Fornés
Collado) p. 191-202 in Revista Latinoamericana de Estudios
respuestas." -- Abstract: Practically unknown abroad and
regrettably forgotten in its homeland, 'Don Sabino' by
Rafael Fornés Collado was one of the most attractive comics
to have been created and published in Cuba in the years
1957-1963. The depth and inspiration of the work are
clearly to be seen in 'Notes of a Cartoonist' and
'Interview with Sabino Fornés,' published in the now
impossible to find January-August 1876 issue of Signos, the
stimulating Santa Clara magazine edited by Samuel Feijóo.
Because of their great interest, we present these materials
here again, which Fornés has wanted to revise, correct and
complete with new observations for this edition. We
attribute their authorship to him alone, since, as he has
told us, the interview was only an expedient format and he
wrote both the questions and the answers himself. --
Abstracts as printed with the article, with some editing of
the English. -- Includes samples of the Don Sabino strip,
which are signed "Fornés". -- Call no.: PN6790.L29R4no.8

1, no. 1 (Abril 2001).
-- Abstract: Cuadros (squares) is a
recurring proposition throughout the history of Cuban
comics. This is an attempt to link a group of essential
fragments, a way to rebuild history retrospectively, a
history which has lost sight, in many cases, of elements
that have supported and developed the drawn narrative as
one of the expressions of the visual arts in Cuba. --

existencial y humanista. Santiago Armada (Chago:
1937-1995), su creador, es también considerado un artista
que desdeñó las clasificaciones y motivaciones epidérmicas
en el género. La relación obra-autor es analizada en este
breve ensayo." -- Abstract: 'Salomón' is considered by
graphics creators as the character that initiated the
language of humorous Cuban comics, with all its
philosophical, existential and humanistic content. Santiago
Armada (Chago: 1937-1995), his creator, is also considered
to be an artist who disdained the classifications and
shallow expectations of the genre. The relationship between
