Though he has previously failed the examination to be a police officer, he now gains an enlarged head and more brain power. He deduces the secret identities of Batman and Robin, and forces them to follow his orders while they look for the Metals Mob, stealers of things like iridium, tantalum, tungsten and "all those rare metals." It turns out the Kyler Aluminum Co. is fencing the metals, and smuggling them inside hollow bars of aluminum. Just as the gang is caught, Barney collapses and his head shrinks back to normal.
