ROBERT VANDER MOLEN

Robert Vander Molen was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has been publishing poems in such periodicals as Caliban, Epoch, Parnassus, and Zeitgeist since the mid 1960s and published his first collection of poems in 1967. After receiving his degrees from Michigan State University (B.A.) and the University of Oregon (M.F.A.), he taught at the Community College in Grand Rapids before going into business as a painting contractor. He was awarded an NEA Fellowship in 1995.

His collections of poetry include Blood Ink (1967); The Invisible Lost Book of Deep Ocean Fish (1968); Along the River, and Other Poems (1978); Of Pines (1989); Paintings and Other Poems (1994); Peaches (1998); and Breath (2000). Vander Molen's papers, including his manuscripts and correspondence, are located in Special Collections, Michigan State University Libraries, and are currently being processed. Vander Molen lives in Grand Rapids and, for part of each year, in his cabin in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
