Other Notable Collections in Special Collections

Other collections of significance include toxicology, early European criminology, British socialism, Edward Gorey, literary first editions (notably of writers of the Irish Literary Renaissance), selected American and English authors of the 19th century and a number of American expatriate writers of the 20th century. Works of the expatriate press in Paris between the two world wars and 20th century American small press poetry are well represented, and there is a nearly comprehensive collection of works of Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. The Canadian Northwest Territory, especially the Red River Settlement and the life of Canadian rebel Louis Riel, is another important collection, as is early travel literature, especially accounts of European travelers in Africa and descriptions of travels in North America.
