MSU Library has one of the largest collections of Africana. Most of the roughly 200,000 volumes are in the Main Library's East Wing, arranged by Library of Congress call number. The Library also has a very strong collection of archival materials on microfilm.
The "Africana Reference" collection (on 2-East, in front of the elevators, next to the offices of the Africana librarians) has reference books about Africa. The Africana Area Files card catalog is a listing of some 10,000 pre-1990 pamphlets.
