| Abstract: | Addresses the issues concerning the gradual shortening of golf fairway mowing heights. Exhorts those who are considering mowing tighter fairways to consider the potential ramifications of such a decision. These affects may include: decreased playability due to a high lie in the fairway; increase in problems associated with earthworm castings and ant mounds; reduced ability of turf recovery due to poor root growth and a consequent inability to freely photosynthesize; and mower injury. Author opines about how short mowing heights are "getting out of hand". |
