Print, Copy and Scan

Print

The Map Library's three Windows Logon computers can print to a black & white letter-size printer and a color letter-size printer. The printers are all located on 2-West. Printing costs are the same as in other computer labs. For more information about printing services in the MSU Libraries, see the Print, Plot, & Scan page.

Copy

The Map Library has a photocopier that can make copies up to 11" x 17" in size. Photocopies cost $0.10 per sheet. The machine takes dollar bills and coins. MakeCentral on 2-West has a color copier that will make copies up to 11" x 17" in size, and a 36" wide rolling scanner that can scan & print large flat items. Most Map Library items can be checked out for in-building use only to take items to the MakeCentral. Ask Map Library staff before removing anything from the Map Library.

Scan

The Map Library has a 42" wide rolling scanner for $1 per scan.  We also have a 11" x 17" color scanner available for use with items in the Map Library's collection. Please bring a USB drive for saving your files, as you won't be able to email them to yourself. Media are also available for purchase in the MakeCentral on 2-West. Patrons with a MSU NetID may carry images to a Windows Logon computer nearby for further editing and use. MakeCentral also has numerous scanning options. Map Library staff will work with you on scanning arrangements.

Photography

Photography is generally permitted for map collections. The overhead fluorescent lights can be problematic. Work with Map Library staff to move materials into a suitable photography area.

More self-serve copying and scanning options are available in the MakeCentral. Please refer to Scanning Options at the MSU Libraries (pdf) for a complete list of scanning options.
