The story of a hero : an officer of the 15th field artillery

At a gun emplacement for a “French 75” cannon, an American doughboy artillery crew waits for a fire mission in the Chateau Thierry sector of France during World War I. An officer talks on a field telephone while the rest of the crew waits for a command. The soldiers, from the 15th Field Artillery Regiment, wear “tin pot” helmets and have gas mask pouches slung over their chests. Scattered on the ground and hung from trees are various pieces of military equipment.
