Two Marines, part of the U.S. Army’s 2d Division, take a break in Belleau Wood, France, the day after its capture by American forces in June 1918 during World War One. One marine sits on a low slung improvised hammock while the other sits on large rocks. Both wear “tin pot doughboy” helmets.
