Photograph shows the second American cruiser to bear the name Chicago. The ship was also the last of the eight 10,000 ton cruisers authorized by congress in 1924. The cruiser is shown alongside the dock at Mare Island Navy Yard. At the time Admiral J. V. Chase was Commander in Chief, United States Fleet.
