Sketches of the news

Four scenes from the news depict a variety of topics. An airplane (Lindy's triumphs) flies upward in a spiral, "climbing higher and higher." A man with a frozen beard (Winter) throws a snowball at another man (public), knocking down some papers (ode to our wonderful weather, Spring poem) and a pencil he was holding. The G.O.P. elephant (Republican politicians) and the Democratic donkey (Democratic politicians), both dressed in Santa Claus costumes, fight over a bag (credit for tax reduction). In the last panel, an old man (1927) holding a cane turns back and says, "well, so long, everybody."
