Hard times for the pessimist
In this cartoon by Carey Orr, a pessimist watches a miner ("business") pull gold ("prosperity") out of the ground ("U.S. Industrial Gold Field"). The pessimist insists that the prosperity cannot last, even though the miner pulls more and more gold from the ground between the years of 1922 and 1927.
