Making a hit with the old folks

This cartoon comments on Vice President Charles Dawes' pulling out of the Presidential race for the Nomination in favor of former Illinois Governor Frank Lowden. In a bedroom Lowden is sleeping. A sock labeled "Frank O. Lowden's Candidacy" is nailed to the foot of the bed. A little boy in short pants and a sailor's top marked "Dawes" lies on the floor and writes this letter: "Dear Santy, Please bring Frank something awful nice. Yours truly, Charlie. P.S. Don't worry about me." Next to Dawes is an envelope addressed: "To Santa, c/o G.O.P. Convention, Kansas City." In the doorway stands a man labeled "Voter" and a woman with an elephant's head marked G.O.P. who asks "Now, isn't that too cute?"
