Selecting a new mast for our schooner
Uncle Sam stands in the middle of a forest (presidential timber) looking at several trees (Reed, Lowden, Hoover, Dawes, Smith, and Hughes), as he comments, "it must be big and straight-and strong enough to withstand the storms of the seven seas." In the background a sailing ship (Ship of State) is under construction on a beach, and in front of it stands one farmer with the Democratic donkey and another with the Republican elephant.
