The Janet A. Ginsburg Chicago Tribune Collection

He doesn't seem to appreciate his benefactor

In this cartoon by Carey Orr, Uncle Sam stands in the USA and looks over his shoulder at a man, "Mexican impertinence," who is making faces at him from Mexico. "Mexican impertinence" appears to be holding a bag or sling, "land laws," while a rock, "insult," and a sign reading "Mexican hatred" are on the ground. In the background a man leans over a wall, "foreign powers with interests in Mexico."
