The rubber situation
Two panels decipt England trying to erase their debt to America. In the first panel, John Bull is seen holding a handfull of money, the heel of his boot (John Bull's finanfcial standing) is made of rubber, and he walks towards a man (British rubber trust) in pajama holding a tire (rubber monopoly). On the side of the panel a hand (Great Britain) is seen erasing the quantity of England's debt to America with a piece of rubber (rubber profits). A second panel shows Herbert Hoover trying to get the attention of a man in a driving outfit (American Autoists demand for rubber) who is trying to pull a band (rubber prices) from John Bull. Hoover shows a document to the man (Hooverize on Rubber - save your old tires - repair in time) as he lets go of the band, smacking John Bull in the face.
