In the limelight : nurse wins the D. S. cross
Beatrice Mary MacDonald, who served on the reserve nurse corps of the US Army during World War I, receiving the Distinguished Service Cross from Secretary of War Newton D. Baker. MacDonald was blinded in on eye from a bomb dropped on her post while at a British casualty clearing station.
