G. D. Brill, who was requested by Chang Chi Tung, Viceroy of Hu Kwang, Central China, to show the people living there how to grow potatoes, corn and wheat; milk cows; get hens to lay eggs even when they refuse; and how to preserve juice from an apple so it will not be too sweet or too sour.
