Books to be boxed are selected based on set criteria. A determination to box is made by Binding Prep. staff when rebinding, repairing or shrink-wrapping is not warranted. Criteria include, but is not limited to, value, book location, integrity of original binding, and expected use.
Needed:
Place one book in Measure-phase with head and tail perpendicular to yourself as you face device. This will measure the height of the book. Add 2 mm to each dimension as you measure and record. Proceed to measure the width of the book and finally the spine width. Record each of these measurements on the ordering sheet.
Record Title and Author and book "location" on sheet.
When the needed information from the group of books is completed, go to the Stor-Pak electronic ordering system (see www.icibinding.com/enclosure/howtoorder.htm). This Access-based program should be downloaded on a computer from which you will work.
Customer information will need to be added. The Binding Prep. Supervisor can supply current P.O. number, etc. Be sure to emphasize the type of boxes wanted. (StorPak is meant to lay flat. Lock-Tab is designed to stand up on edge. Heavier b-flute material can be requested for an extra charge.)
Add items to "StorPak Order Enter" box. Click add.
After adding all items into database, print the order report and then compare it to your handwritten ordering sheet to make sure all the measurements are the same and the words are spelled correctly, etc.
Send an email to The Enclosure Center with the Access document as an attachment.
The Enclosure Center should send an e-mail acknowledging receipt of the order and the expected shipping date.
